1989 Skanner 24 gaff rigged sailing yacht with Beta 20hp engine installed 2021. ‘Tom Thumb’ really is a delightful little boat; a beautiful shape with her canoe stern, and smart varnished teak giving a classic boat feel with the advantage of a more modern build. Don’t let her charming demeanor fool you however, the Skanner 24 is a substantially built, long keel, gaff rigged vessel which offers safety and stability, and is equipped to a standard of which you would usually find on a larger boat. The current owner had enjoyed sailing the Solent and longer trips, and since purchase in 2016, has undertaken a number of improvements to the boat, including new engine in 2021, new main gaff sail and new mail sail and boom cover in 2025, and new standing rigging in 2026. Currently on the water at Birdham Pool Marina, and available for viewing by appointment.

Sails and Spars
Main gaff sail replaced in 2025 along with a new main sail (Batt Sails) and boom cover.
Standing rigging - All standing lines replaced in 2026 and foresail furling lines replaced a few years earlier with ‘bottle screw ‘ adjustment to allow each foresail to be adjusted independently of each other.
Running rigging - All running rigging has been replaced and pulleys replaced where necessary. The Gaff throat and peak lines were also adjusted to allow equal travel when hoisting / lowering the gaff.

Navigation and Electronics
B & G Vulcan 7 connected to an NMEA 2000 network hub for the addition of new devices if required. It can also be networked to an Autohelm auto-pilot which when connected, integrates with the chart plotter easing solo navigation.
ICOM 423G VHF fitted in the lower cabin with a remote extension and controller wired to the cockpit for easy access whilst on-the-helm.
